There's something in the drum track that would cause seizures if it were visualized. Popping all over the place.
Kind of Zappaish, with the inane criticism of a tired stereotype. It's cute, but not that cute. [okay]

An immediate [good], but I agree, what's with the wah? It's making me cry a bit in the not-as-desirable way. I feel the song needed some other kind of accent. It's really less bothersome on the chorus than it is when it peeps in to say hi during the verses.

I can't believe the improvement your voice has made over the years. Great production, catchy song and whatnot... I don't know, I'm kind of disappointed with the Offspring-circa-1997 sound. The melody is the main offender there, but it's really all throughout the track.
There are some nice things that keep it changed up--the unusual guitar solo (around 2:30) is one of them. I really don't think the song is, well, distinctive though. It sounds like a decent late-90s local band at their best. Solid [okay].
Again though, major vocal improvement since the days of Firecracker, Floating Bridge and so on. For that, I will say GREAT JOB DOCTOR WORM! WOOOOOOOOO!
Ahem.

An easy [good]. I'll join in on the chord debate, I guess--I usually think of these as "tired" chords. I mean, they get a lot of play in the right (or wrong) genres, right? They feel so warm and fuzzy here, though. If this were a little tinnier and the melody weren't so damned appealing, I might not be as keen upon it. Really, excellent stuff.

I'm not sure where Tuuur gets off calling them "jazz chords", though. More like "folk cheese" chords.

It's got a bizarre kind of appeal. Kind of like the Eddie Money song you want to hate, but recognize as slightly better than anything you'll find on the rest of the dial. [okay] Pretty tired sound, I have to say, but it's got some nice fundamental appeal.

Full of cheese--Tears for Fears style, I agree. That earns it a [good] off the bat, though. It's good cheese.
Are those chime sweeps? They sound terrible.

Simple, well played, written, produced, and thoroughly impossible to speak much ill of. Not in my top ten, but certainly not okay. [good]

Could totally be a Pixies B-side. Absolutely insane fun.

Five Nights in Britain != One Night in Bangkok
Nice song, could be a little less... well, yeah, Jack Johnson. I mean, I can't complain, because it's a nice sound, but we've had to hear so much of it lately, haven't we?
This is -so- not Sondre Lerche, though. Lerche drops the cliche jazz inflections and just makes the music. I mean, there are nice things that come with the jazzy bluesy schmoozy nonsense, but there are a lot of bad things that come with it too, perhaps most notably the "Hey, is this a cover? Because it's exactly like this one song..." effect.

I always wondered--is Mario's name Mario Mario, or does he have another first name? I mean, they're "Mario brothers", aren't they? This is a question you probably can't answer.
So uh, back to the song--great stuff. I can't imagine people giving this less than a [good], but it seems they have. I guess it relies pretty heavily on the context of the opera, but if you'd listened to the others you'd have most of that context.
You're definitely moving further into the "opera" mode, and I like that. The songs that work on their own are great too, but there's something to be said for the half-ironic epic proportions of the rock opera.
I think you should un-hide your old stuff, though. Sure, they weren't masterpieces, but there are a few good tracks in there.
