An "acoustic rock" song I made for Song Fight, and tweaked a little after getting some feedback there. [edit: It was inspired by dreams I was having of moving to my parents house back east, which I think were in turn inspired by anxiety over potentially going broke from being unemployed for 16 months.]

the "bitter country" line really bothers me for some reason. i mean, i get it and all, but it just comes across as very obvious. otoh, it's not like this song is exactly trying to be all obscure, so mebbe i should just enjoy it for what it is.

i like the guitar countermelody a lot. the rest of it seems jammy and a little uninspired.

Nice composition on the whole. Feel as though your low vocal has something off (is it warbly, flat, eq'd weird, i'm not sure...) that makes the harmony very unnatural sounding, which distracts me from all the nice things you're doing.

I like the "unnatural" harmony. Lunkhead is underrated!

found this boring and uninteresting. sound quality and performance is fine tho...

i listened twice and am glad i did. i think this is a well-written song and is performed well. i might have liked a bit more dynamic contrast, but whatever--good.

this remains one of my favourite songfight entries of this year. C&P from the review thread: "the guitar and drums are real good (though the cymbals on the second two lines in each verse sometimes seem a little excessive). love those vocal harmonies, they sound very alice in chains; the guitar part after "brown boxes, full of memory" especially makes me think jerry cantrell. the electric part that comes in around 2.30 has a great warbly tone to it, like like like."

definitely underrated. I absolutely love the harmonies in the chorus. Saved to the pc for my Best Of Somesongs cd.
