couldn't have known but you did it on faith in spite of yourself it worked out that way now you're sad, but it's better than running away
domestic life made you bitter you wanna run away and leave the kids with a sitter won't come back til the end of the winter when it'll be cold
lose your grip, time slips away the seconds add shorter than the hours in the day you're one step closer to giving in to fate
didn't burn bridges, thought kindness pays tempered your obsession, softened your way couldn't shake your fascination with eventual end of days
left the well with a bucket from the well trying not to spill staring down at hell no guts to drop it, though there's a hill after every hill

one the chorus, i'd make every 4th note a solid bass hit on the organ as well.
great song, and best wishes for your marriage.
[op ed] i really hope this song stays highly rated. it's a nice simple arty little piece that SS (and the internet) could use a lot more of. as easy as it is to be a dude with a guitar playing songs, it seems almost impossible to get enough in them to make them shine. this one does.
