This song post is dedicated to Tuuur!

Written for Nur Ein II. Live strings, live horns, live drums, a whole-tone scale--I pulled out all the stops! Even got a compliment from Puce on the mix. Lyric in "more notes."

Wow! I am... flabbergasted.
Actually I DO have a heart of a lion, astrologically speaking (I am a leo).

Having rated a few hundred songs the last week, I got to agree with the Great Paulini. Motown to my ears, very pro sounding again.

That electric piano solo is pretty hot. Is it improv?

Oh yeah, and the rest of the awesomeness that is THIS SONG. WOW. [good]

i guess i should toss you the first bone....hey, this is so retro cool man, it just has this 60's kind of luster to it. love the way the falsetto vocals come in wide panned. love the horns and the mix is stellar all the way around. great.

Live strings! Aha! I remember asking you once how you got such a beautiful sound. That would explain it.

I remember thinking this song could not possibly lose. [good]

Production is great, performances are generally very good (the horns/bass/drums in particular). Honestly, though, I really didn't like this one. The chorus is OK, but the yacht rock jazzy/fusiony sound of the rest of it completely turned me off. I don't think that genre suits you at all. The instrumental bridge with the keyboard solo was way too long, and noodly, for me. In spite of all that, I think it was better than Puce's song and that you should have won, but it just didn't work for me personally. Not to pigeonhole you, but to me your "A game" is more like ballads with acoustic guitar.

I'm not gonna bang the genre bias drum. This is just sweet so why fight it? Stretching the boundaries is what real artists do.

This is really well executed, but I can't overcome my genre bias so far.
