This is another song for the Nur Ein competition. I wasn't too fond of this song when I wrote it, but now I like it pretty much. The saxes still sound kind of harsh at the end, but what, I'm gonna remix it? It's slow and long, so don't start it unless you have 7 minutes and some patience. You can also probably trim the last minute or so and not lose anything. Lyric in "more notes."

Never thought I'd hear you in the Pink Floyd camp...kidding! kidding! But really, there you are. Slide guitar, even. I'll forgive the obviousness of the rain metaphor since that second verse is so good. The subtle key riff is primo, and the vocals are, well, perfect? Except for the harsh "ch" and "s"s. Where's the de-esser? I dig the saxes. Very fitting. OK, it could end earlier. But good!

My god, 7:51!!! Well, I guess that's what you get when you start with 30 seconds of rain.
I agree with roymond on the ch's and s's being too harsh. Also, work a bit on the guitar soloing.
No problem with the saxes here, I think they sound great. And I almost never like saxes.

I like the intro - very atmospheric. Dude - I thought you didn't like prog anymore ... and here you are with an intro that I could easily have mistaken for floyd ... really slow tempo, chord changes and everything ... not to say I don't like it - I love that kind of stuff. Okay, so maybe it's not that proggy ... too catchy. This is exactly the kind of song that I like (if a bit long ... not like that's a big deal for me). Guitar in the solo could have a better tone, but that's just nitpicking. You're right about the saxes, but they're not painfully harsh as I was anticipating. Great tune - I will for sure listen to this one again.

Well, slacker that I am, I'm just now getting around to hearing this. I enjoyed it quite a lot. I agree the second verse is strongest, but I also have no problem with the first. It's plenty serviceable; sets up the "plot" perfectly clearly in just a handful of lines. Also, I have no problem with the guitar solo nor the sax. Taken individually (out-of-context), maybe they aren't the be-all end-all, but to my ear they fit the song well.

What's wrong with Pink Floyd, by the way?
