Comments:
Yeah, this is good. Not wild about the chorus (I think it's the chorus) near the end. But cool song overall.

I know for a fact that I have listened to this song more that anyone (thanks to the music video). I still loves it!

my favorite bits are the shimmery slide parts. i was ready for this song to go 8 minutes, but it was only half the goodness i wanted. your layering is getting really quite impeccable.

This song has to grow on me. I don't know what to think of it, other than that it sounds very, very good. I can't say I like it, though.

[EDIT] I completely agree with puce's comment.

[EDIT] another thing, the melodic lines of the vocals are not strong. If sung on their own, they don't stick in my head.

I have abstained from voting on this song for a very long time, and for good reason. When I first heard it I hated it, but I couldn’t put my finger on why. Any tangible complaints I had were minor nitpicks: I don’t like the keyboard patch that comes in between 0:10 and 0:46, the verse melody doesn’t grab me, and I find the overall mix a little mid-heavy. But it’s an astoundingly well crafted song –the arrangement is expertly done, the performance and recording are among the best you can find on this website– that sounds unlike anything I’ve ever heard before; It was so well done that I couldn’t bring myself to vote the way I felt about it without a few [dozen] more listens first.

Recently I’ve been trying to listen to Arcade Fire, and I’ve been hating it. I found myself in the same position: the music is amazing but there is something I don’t like about the songs that I can’t put my finger on and that I can’t attribute to poor production. Today I made the connection: something in the back of my brain is repulsed by the high-and-quavering, earnest-and-emotional male vocal style. It stresses me out. Maybe I’m not mature enough to handle it.

It really feels weak saying that I don’t like the vocal style, because for a lot of people that is the way they sing. I also hate to say it because it is so often used as a glib dismissal. In this case it’s far from glib: I’ve listened to this song dozens of times to see if it would grow on me, and it never did. [OK]
